For formal records, "100% character-for-character" should be something you can check in a minute, not something you take on trust. So with each document you get a diff report: I OCR my finished PDF, OCR your scan, and run a character-level comparison; the report lists zero differences or shows exactly where they are. Word, not Google Docs - Docs can't hold exact margins, tab stops and line spacing the way Word does. Method: measure the scan (margins, line pitch, indent widths, font size from x-height), set those as the page and paragraph values so lines break where the original's do, hard page breaks between pages. If the exact typeface isn't available I name it and use the closest metric match so the wrap holds. No manual line breaks inside paragraphs; Normal plus built-in heading styles only, style gallery cleared before delivery. Proofing is against the scan, page by page, after OCR; anything genuinely illegible is highlighted and marked rather than guessed. Turnaround: about 40 pages a working day; the first document back within 24 hours of receiving the scans, with its diff report.
