Create a tire product spreadsheet.
- You will be given a Adobe PDF file and required to input the data into an MS Excel spreadsheet. The data must be entered accurately and in the right format. You will be given examples to show you how to perform this task.
- This task needs to be done within the next 3 days. We are going to start with 500 products (rows) and you are bidding for that contract.
- We have more products to input and other work so a good job may well result in more contracts awarded.
- Really sorry but I made a mistake in the description. The source of the information will be a website and not a PDF file. We do have a PDF file but we found out its not complete so you would need to access a website as the source of the information.
- The URL of this website is confidential but its basically an online store selling a type of car part. Your job will be to go product by product and enter the product description fields (name, model, category, attributes, price, etc...) into rows in an Excel spreed sheet.
** IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BID PLEASE SEND ME A MSG IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED SO THAT I CAN CONSIDER YOU FOR FINAL SELECTION. SINCE THE DESCRIPTION HAS CHANGED I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU STILL WANT THE JOB.
We had picked a provider but he was not able to do it since it was too complex for him. To ensure that the service provider we select is capable of this job please make sure to read the added instructions below and post a comment on your bid if you understand then and can execute on them. You need to be familiar with the osCommerce "EasyPopulate" format described here:
I have included the example file attached. Instructions are below. Please withdraw your bid if you cannot understand or cannot execute based on the instructions below. If we chose you and find out later that you cannot execute we will rate accordingly.
Please find detailed instruction below. Please do not hesitate to contact me by email [this address] or MSN (*****) if you have any questions. I would ask that you start by entering 10 products and then allow me to check the file to make sure you are on the right track before continuing.
First you need to login to:
User Name: ****
Once you have logged in click on Tires and then you have various options to browse their tire inventory. We want to start by entering passenger tires and precede in a systematic manner so we can know what we have entered and what is still missing.
I would recommend you start with the following link and then go first by tire diameter from 13" upwards.
For each tire you will need to enter a row in the attached spreedsheet was follows.
v_products_model: All caps; append manufactures, tire model and size as shown in example row. Max field length is 32 characters so you might need to abbreviate either manufacturer or model name to stay within this but please be consistent by using the same prefix for tires made by the same manufacturer/etc...
v_products_image Leave blank.
v_products_name_1: Product name; use the name of the tire as listed on the site; e.g. " Kumho Power Star 758"
v_products_description_1: Leave blank
v_products_price: Please enter the price as it appears on the website.
v_products_weight: Please enter 1 here for all of them.
v_date_added: Please use the date you add them.
v_products_quantity: Set this to 999
For the attribute fields you can copy the example row and change it as follows:
You just need to place a 0 in the v_attribute_values_price* fields that are one column before the applicable attribute v_attribute_values_name*. For example if this is an "All Season" tire then you would place a 0 in v_attribute_values_name_1_1_1 and leave v_attribute_values_price_1_2 and v_attribute_values_price_1_3 blank.
The attribute fields are:
Type: This will be either "All Season", "Summer" or "Winter". Please do not add "Light Truck" tires yet.
** On the website you will see the tire size listed as:
This translates into the following attributes in the spreadsheet.
Aspect Ratio/Profile 80
You can read more about tire sizes here.
As per the example in the first row I set the following columns to 0.
v_attribute_values_price_1_1 since v_attribute_values_name_1_1_1="All Season"
v_attribute_values_price_2_2 since v_attribute_values_name_2_2_1=155
v_attribute_values_price_3_23 since v_attribute_values_name_3_23_1=80
v_attribute_values_price_4_3 since v_attribute_values_name_4_3_1=13"
All the other fields v_attribute_values_name_* should be zero.
Additional fields should be set as follows:
v_manufacturers_name to the Manufacturer name
v_categories_name_1 to the tire diameter; in the first row example this is 13".
v_tax_class_title to " Taxable Goods"
v_status to "Active"
Please try to be consistent in spelling and case.
*** Very important to always save the file as "tab delimited text file". Do not save it in Excel format as this will add special characters that will make it unusable for us.
Thanks for your time and attention. Its complicated at the beginning but once you get the hang of it you can just copy and paste the previous row and make a few changes to add the next row.
