I am completing a high level research project analyzing how anchor institutions specifically the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia have influenced land use patterns, property values, and displacement risk in surrounding West Philadelphia neighborhoods. I am seeking spatial analysis support to map institutional land ownership and expansion over time, assess proximity-based impacts on nearby neighborhoods ( Mantua, University City, Kingsessing), and visualize changes in property assessments, land use, and demographic indicators using GIS. 1. Study Area Definition Focus on: West Philadelphia Specific neighborhoods: University City, Mantua, Spruce Hill, Kingsessing Census tract or block group boundaries (for consistency with data) Deliverable: A clearly defined study boundary layer. 2. Institutional Land Ownership & Expansion You need: Parcel-level mapping of land owned or controlled by: University of Pennsylvania Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (including affiliates) Ability to distinguish: Institutional vs. non-institutional parcels Approximate acquisition periods (if data allows) Deliverable: Institutional ownership map Attribute table identifying owner type and acquisition timing (if available) 3. Proximity / Buffer Analysis Ask for: Distance buffers around institutional parcels or campuses: ¼ mile ½ mile 1 mile Comparison of conditions inside vs. outside buffers Deliverable: Buffer maps and spatial layers usable for analysis and figures. 4. Property Value & Land Use Change You need spatial joins that show: Changes in assessed property values over time Land use categories (residential, institutional, mixed-use, etc.) Concentrations of redevelopment or conversion Deliverable: Choropleth maps of assessment change Land use change maps Clean tables summarizing trends by neighborhood and buffer zone 5. Demographic & Housing Indicators If feasible, ask for: Census-based indicators (ACS): Tenure (rent vs. own) Income Race/ethnicity Mapped at tract or block-group level Deliverable: Demographic comparison maps and datasets. Output Format (This Is Important) Be very explicit: I need all outputs to be: Publication-ready maps (PDF/PNG) Editable GIS files (shapefiles or geodatabases) Simple tables I can reference in my paper Clearly documented data sources for citation

Hello, I've just worked on similar projects and I can confidently handle this project. I’m a GIS and spatial analysis specialist with extensive experience delivering publication-ready research outputs for urban planning, land use, and institutional impact studies. I’ve supported academic and policy-focused projects involving parcel-level analysis, census integration, and proximity-based spatial modeling—exactly aligned with your West Philadelphia research. For this project, I will clearly define the study area using census tracts or block groups and produce a clean boundary layer covering University City, Mantua, Spruce Hill, and Kingsessing. I will map parcel-level land ownership for the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, distinguishing institutional and non-institutional parcels and incorporating acquisition timing where data permits. I will conduct ¼, ½, and 1-mile buffer analyses around institutional land to compare land use, property assessments, and demographic conditions inside versus outside impact zones. Property value changes and land use transitions will be visualized through choropleth and categorical maps, supported by well-structured summary tables. If feasible, I will integrate ACS indicators (tenure, income, race/ethnicity) at the tract or block-group level.

Hi there, I understand you're conducting a detailed spatial analysis to assess the impact of major institutions on land use and displacement in West Philadelphia neighborhoods. I have 7+ years of experience in GIS spatial analysis and urban planning, and I have mastered spatial data integration, cartography, and statistical analysis tools. I focus on clear execution, practical delivery, and results that align with your exact requirements. 1️⃣ Define and create precise study area boundaries using census tract and block group data for West Philadelphia neighborhoods. 2️⃣ Map institutional land ownership and expansion over time at the parcel level for the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital, including acquisition dates if available. 3️⃣ Generate multiple proximity buffers (¼ mile, ½ mile, 1 mile) around institutional parcels and analyze spatial impacts inside vs. outside. 4️⃣ Perform spatial joins to assess property value changes, land use shifts, and redevelopment patterns with corresponding map visualizations. 5️⃣ Integrate ACS demographic data to map tenure, income, and race/ethnicity indicators, producing clear comparative maps and tables. I am looking forward to work with you. Best regards, Rosita Iniesta

Hello there, I have thoroughly reviewed the requirements for the Philadelphia GIS Mapping and Spatial Analysis project. I understand that the focus is on analyzing the impact of anchor institutions like the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on land use patterns, property values, and displacement risks in West Philadelphia neighborhoods such as University City, Mantua, Spruce Hill, and Kingsessing. To achieve this, I propose a detailed project plan that includes defining the study area, mapping institutional land ownership and expansion, conducting proximity analysis, examining property value and land use changes, and analyzing demographic and housing indicators using GIS tools. Please review my portfolio for relevant past projects: https://www.freelancer.pk/u/phpxpert89 I invite you to initiate a chat to discuss this project further. Best regards

Hello, I’m excited to support your Philadelphia GIS study on how anchor institutions have shaped land use, property values, and displacement in West Philadelphia. I’ve led urban GIS projects that map institutional land ownership, perform proximity analyses, and visualize time-series changes in values and land use, with publication-ready outputs. Approach: - Define a precise study boundary for West Philadelphia (University City, Mantua, Spruce Hill, Kingsessing) using census tract boundaries. - Produce parcel-level ownership maps for University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (including affiliates), distinguishing institutional vs non-institutional parcels and noting acquisition timing where available. - Create 0.25, 0.5, and 1 mile buffers around institutional parcels; deliver buffer maps and layers. - Jump from ownership to impact: choropleth maps of assessed changes, land-use transitions, and summarized tables by neighborhood and buffer. - If feasible, add ACS-based demographic indicators (tenure, income, race/ethnicity) mapped at tract or block-group level. Outputs: publication-ready maps (PDF/PNG), editable GIS files (shapefiles/geodatabases), simple tables, and clearly documented data sources. I can begin with an initial boundary layer and ownership map within two weeks. Are there specific time frames for acquisition data (e.g., 1990s–present) and preferred data sources you want me to prioritize for parcel-level ownership and acquisition timin

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am a GIS specialist focused on urban planning and housing markets, combining parcel-level ownership mapping, proximity analysis, and time-series visualization to reveal how anchor institutions shape land use, property values, and displacement risk. I work with ArcGIS/QGIS, Python, and SQL to deliver clear, publication-ready maps and robust data layers. In past work, I’ve built institutional ownership maps and expansion analyses, created buffers (0.25, 0.5, 1 mile), performed land use classification, and produced choropleth and change maps using census, land records, and property assessment data. I provide clean attribute tables and editable GIS files without relying on external links or timelines. I can handle this project end-to-end, delivering the study boundary layer, institutional ownership layers with timing if available, buffer and proximity maps, and comprehensive change visuals plus tables for each neighborhood and buffer zone. Outputs will be publication-ready PDFs/PNGs, editable GIS files (shapefiles or geodatabases), simple tables, and clearly cited data sources. Please feel free to contact me so we can discuss more details. I am looking forward to the chance of working together. Best regards, Billy Bryan
