My goal is to keep day-to-day attendance simple and centralised inside Microsoft Access. The database needs three core modules: 1) Employee check-in / check-out A single, easy form for manual entry that time-stamps arrivals and departures. Employees will be selected from a dropdown fed by a master staff table; the form should automatically calculate total hours and flag missing punches. While our current workflow is manual, I would like the table design to be flexible enough so we could later add RFID or biometric fields without rebuilding the whole structure. 2) Leave management Vacation, sick days and other absences must be logged against each employee and deducted from their entitlement balance. Accrual rules are straightforward—one line per leave type with start-date, end-date and reason—but the logic that keeps the balances accurate is essential, so VBA or well-built queries will be needed here. 3) Reporting & analytics • Daily attendance reports that can be printed or exported to Excel • Monthly summary reports showing hours worked, overtime and leave taken • Real-time alerts: the moment a scheduled employee has not checked in by a given time, an on-screen prompt or automatic e-mail should fire I will provide current staff lists and our holiday policy; you handle table design, relationships, forms, queries, reports and any VBA. A clean switchboard or navigation pane that guides non-technical users through the process is important, and the final file must open in Access 2016+ with no missing references. Acceptance will be based on: • Zero data-integrity errors during test entries • All three report types matching sample layouts I will supply • Alert firing accurately in a live test If you have built similar Access databases, please tell me which features you tackled and how you approached alerts. Source file (.accdb) is the only deliverable; no installers required.
