Automatically set equivalent make components of a family, on click of a button

Job Description:

For a electrical switchboard costing software solution, it is required that offer should be submitted with alternative make of major components of the BOQ.

Presently, offer BOQ is created considering a base make of the major switchgear components.

So, the project involves creation of an interface wherein user can define and save equivalent catalog number of components of alternative makes available in the database. Thus user can create, edit/update, delete and filter records as per requirement using the interface. Validations & use cases listed must be taken care.

Apart from this, a field is to be added in an existing interface along with couple of validations.

The resultant BOQ with the alternative make selection, done on this interface, must get populated in the existing grid on this interface. Rows for which equivalent data is not found, shall be displayed in a window so that user can create their equivalent data or can choose to ignore few or all of them.

The solution is developed using VB2012 on .NET framework 4.7 with SQL 2019 as the backend.
