Migrating legacy desktop functionality into a modern web app usually gets messy where business logic, database behavior, and frontend expectations no longer match, so the key is to understand the existing flow before rewriting pieces in isolation. I’d approach this by first tracing the current modules, API touchpoints, and SQL dependencies so new features and fixes don’t create regressions elsewhere. My background fits this kind of ongoing product work well: ASP.NET Core/C#, REST APIs, SQL Server, and modern frontend stacks for feature development, bug resolution, and performance cleanup inside existing systems. I’m comfortable working with PMs and QA, picking up an established codebase quickly, and shipping maintainable changes rather than short-term patches. A small plus from my side is that I’m happy to help identify refactor opportunities while fixing active issues. - Is the current frontend fully Angular, or is it mixed with React/older UI pieces? - How much of the legacy desktop logic is already documented versus needing reverse engineering? - Will the first tasks be feature delivery, bug fixing, or migration-focused?

The real challenge here is not just building features, but safely extending an existing application while legacy desktop behavior is being moved to the web. That usually means understanding old workflows, database rules, and edge cases first, then implementing changes in a way that keeps the app stable and testable. I’ve worked on full-stack application maintenance and enhancement involving .NET/ASP.NET Core, REST API integration, SQL Server queries and procedures, and modern JS frameworks in team environments. This kind of role suits me because it needs someone who can debug across layers, read existing code without hand-holding, and collaborate cleanly with PM and QA. I can also help flag performance or security weak points as I move through the codebase. - Is Angular your primary frontend today, and which version are you on? - Are stored procedures heavily used in the current SQL Server layer? - Do you already have a defined backlog for the first few weeks, or would you want help prioritizing the migration items?

Hi there, I can help with this because I’m comfortable stepping into existing codebases, building API-driven features, and fixing issues across frontend, backend, and database layers. Your need is not just new Angular work, but steady product development while gradually moving useful legacy desktop functionality into a cleaner web experience. I’d keep the approach practical: understand the current structure first, make safe incremental changes, keep REST contracts clear, and stay close to SQL Server behavior so features remain stable. I also value maintainable code, clear communication with PM/QA, and careful debugging when problems cross layers. If helpful, I’d be glad to discuss the current stack and where I can add value first.

Hi, I’m interested in joining your team as an ongoing Full-Stack Developer. This is exactly the type of role where I can contribute beyond simply implementing tickets—I can work across the frontend, backend, API, and database layers and help modernize legacy functionality as the application evolves. I’m comfortable joining an existing codebase, understanding how the current system works, and making changes without introducing unnecessary refactoring or breaking existing functionality. For legacy migration work, I focus on understanding the original business logic first and then translating it into a clean, maintainable web implementation rather than simply reproducing the old interface. I’m also comfortable working independently while keeping the project manager and QA team updated throughout development. I’m available to start ASAP and would be interested in a long-term engagement with increasing hours as the workload grows. I’d be happy to review the current application/codebase and discuss the first set of features or migration tasks. Best regards Raheel

When a team needs ongoing help on a web app plus legacy migration, the biggest risk is introducing fixes that solve one issue but break another part of the stack. The safest way to handle that is with careful codebase onboarding, understanding data relationships and existing business rules, and then delivering changes that are clean enough for long-term maintenance. This matches the kind of work I handle best: C#/.NET backend work, API development and integration, SQL Server-heavy applications, and frontend updates in modern frameworks. I’m used to stepping into active products, investigating bugs across frontend/backend/database layers, and working alongside QA to get features properly validated before release. If useful, I can also help document old-to-new functionality as migration work progresses. - Is the backend already on ASP.NET Core, or are some services still on older .NET architecture? - Do you have test/staging environments in place for QA and deployment? - Roughly how many weekly hours are you expecting at the start?

Hi there, Thank you for posting the good task! You asked for the must-haves first. I have 5+ years of full-stack work, strong React and modern frontend experience, solid REST API design and consumption, Git fluency, and practical hands-on work with C# / ASP.NET Core and SQL Server including queries, relationships and debugging across existing codebases. Auth, authorization and application security are part of how I normally ship features. Pure Angular is not my deepest lane, but I have used it on real projects and pick up component patterns quickly when the codebase is already there. What matters most here is steady delivery on an existing product. New features, bug fixes, performance and security improvements, and careful migration from a legacy desktop system into a clean web flow, while working with your PM and QA. I am used to reading unfamiliar code, working independently, and writing maintainable changes rather than rewriting everything. I am available remotely for part-time ongoing work starting ASAP, and my rate sits comfortably inside your 25-35 USD per hour range. Looking forward to working with you for the long term. Sincerely, Diah

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer with experience building and maintaining production web applications. I've worked extensively with C# and ASP.NET Core on the backend, Angular on the frontend, and SQL Server for data management. I'm comfortable with existing codebases and modernizing legacy systems. Your project involves migrating functionality from a desktop system to a modern web application—requiring APIs that bridge old and new systems, understanding existing business logic, and translating it into clean web-based architecture. You need someone who can move quickly through features, debug across the stack, and maintain code quality independently. I've done similar work: inheriting complex applications, debugging frontend and backend issues, and migrating legacy functionality into modern frameworks. I'm comfortable with REST APIs, SQL Server queries and stored procedures, and the full development cycle from design through deployment. My approach: I'll start by understanding your architecture and codebase, then establish a workflow where I tackle features and bugs independently while staying aligned with your team. I'll prioritize maintainable code from the start—essential on ongoing projects with multiple developers. Early on, I'd clarify how the legacy system works and what migration priorities exist. This helps me understand which features to tackle first and what technical debt to address during modernization. I'm ready to start immediately. Let's discuss the

Hi, Mateo here, from Toronto, to help you build this out. Migrating legacy desktop functionality to the web usually breaks down when business logic embedded in the old system gets rebuilt as a literal copy instead of a clean REST-backed service, so I'd want to understand which pieces of the legacy app are actual business rules versus UI convention before writing new endpoints. I'm comfortable working in C#/.NET Core with SQL Server on the backend and Angular or React on the front, fitting into an existing codebase and QA workflow rather than starting from scratch, and I take authentication/authorization seriously given it's part of the migration scope. Is there a specific piece of the legacy system you'd want tackled first, or would I be picking up existing tickets/backlog items from your current team?

Your legacy-to-web migration will fail if you don't map stored procedure dependencies before refactoring. I've seen teams lose 3 months rewriting logic that was already handled in the database layer. Quick questions - are you planning to keep SQL Server triggers and procedures during migration, or move all business logic into C# services? And what's your authentication strategy for the Angular frontend - JWT tokens or session-based? Here is the architectural approach: - C# / ASP.NET CORE: Build REST API layer with dependency injection, middleware for error handling, and Entity Framework for data access while maintaining compatibility with existing stored procedures. - ANGULAR: Develop component-based UI with RxJS for state management, HTTP interceptors for auth tokens, and lazy loading to optimize bundle size during migration phases. - SQL SERVER: Refactor complex queries into indexed views, implement transaction isolation for concurrent users, and create migration scripts that preserve data integrity across legacy and new systems. I've led 4 legacy modernization projects where we moved desktop apps to web without downtime. Let's schedule a 15-minute call to review your database schema and migration roadmap before you commit to a timeline.
