We need a pcb design for a network interface, that could be connected to usb and that have an integrated 8-port switch with poe.
PoE standard: IEEE [url removed, login to view] (48V DC)
Input connector: usb 3.0 (with usb 2.0 compatibility)
8x 100 Mbit/s lan port in a row with status led and 15,4 Watt (IEEE [url removed, login to view])
Input +12V via standard molex connector (or other easy to handle connector)
Temp.-range from -20°C to +65°C
Size: 140x60mm or less
If no external power supply is connected, it also should work as normal network device + switch (but without PoE).
On the attached picture you can see the stucture.
It should be possible to connect this interface on a usb 2.0 or on a usb 3.0 port of any pc or mac. It should be a standard controller, that would be detect from any standard operating system like windows, mac os or linux without necessity to install an extra driver. We know, if a usb 2.0 connection would be used, we don't have 8x 100 MBit/s bandwith, but we also need the compatibility. With usb 3.0 the complete bandwith of 8x 100Mbit/s should be possible.
We need the design of a pcb with components that we can buy at one of the big distributors like Farnell, Digi-Key, Arrow, Mouser. Please use only long-time available components. Before we start, we would discuss the BOM / price of the components (round about).
You should be able to manufacture 2 prototypes with all componentes (could be mounted by hand) and send it to us for review.
We would release 2 milestones. First milestone to fit the hardware costs for the prototypes, second milestone after we got the pcb for testing. Is everything is okay, we would release directly the second milestone and after you got the money, you can send us the cad source files. We use EAGLE 7 for pcb design, so it would be good if you also work in EAGLE.
