# Need Algorithm for Scoring Key: I/O provided

We need a scoring formula developed to properly evaluate (& weight) input values from over 70 samples to match its derived output data. We will provide the correct output data values. For each set of input values, there are 4 output values.

Because we are under a 3rd party contract, bidders must sign an NDA before receiving the actual problem. We used a linear regression model / least squares approach unsuccessfully. The correct scoring algorithm may involve a quadratic formula or something potentially much simpler.

The scoring algorithm can be written in PHP, or C (compiled). The program will take the input data values (<75 items/sample) from 70 total sample input sets, with item value ranges from 1 to 5 (low to high). The final solution desired will calculate each of the 4 output values within .25% (that's 1/4 of 1%) of the actual output values.

The final output we request will be: 1) a written summary of the formula(s) used, 2) potentially the scoring key(s), weights or contributions developed for each of the input values and 3) the software program which takes all of the input values (passed as an array or tab delimited string), and returns the 4 output values (the program will basically be a function).

It is equally possible, the answer key is very simple or basic, not involving any advanced math.

Please list your history solving similar problems, any related experience in applied mathematics or past assignments that dealt with working with quadratic formula. Candidates who appear qualified will be asked to complete a confidentiality and non disclosure document before reviewing the actual test data.

The data is bogus, so don't expend any effort to mathematically correlate the input values to the output score - it is simply meant to provide you with an idea of the problem's structure. Real data will be provided to applicants after review of their background and ok'd.
