I’m building a cloud-based quoting platform for engineering workshops (steel) and I need fresh, expert eyes on it before the next release. Because the tool is designed for people who price and scope real-world engineering work such as a steel structure manufacturing workshop. Whether you’re a practicing engineer, a Quantity Surveyor, or have hands-on experience preparing estimates for civil, mechanical, or electrical jobs this may be a fit for you. Your focus will be twofold: • Usability: approach it as a busy engineer would—spot friction points, unclear labels, or anything that could slow down producing an accurate quote. • Functionality: push every calculation, workflow, and permission level until it breaks (or proves rock solid). Before you do that you just need to do some work with AI. If you're not very familiar with what a typical steel structure workshop would be quoting, we can also help with this. We have example spreadsheets of what they use. Key areas I want reviewed include the Bill-of-Quantities builder, cost-code library, margin/contingency sliders, and the export to PDF/Excel. Browser testing will be on Chrome first, then Edge. We will work out the level or depth of the testing and the reporting approach as we progress. We will build that together based on your knowledge of creating a quote for an engineering workshop (which will grow as we proceed). If this sounds like a good fit, tell me briefly about the most complex engineering quote or take-off system you’ve tested—or built—so I know you speak the same language.

Hello! I have hands-on experience with complex engineering BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and structured Excel-based costing systems for construction and steel-related work. This background allows me to test your platform as an actual estimator would, not simply from a software-testing perspective. I can rigorously review the BOQ builder, cost-code structure, margin and contingency calculations, permissions, workflows, and PDF/Excel outputs using realistic quotation scenarios. My goal will be to uncover calculation errors and usability friction while providing practical recommendations that directly improve the engineer’s quoting workflow.

Hi, We can test your SaaS platform from an end-user perspective, focusing on usability, calculations, workflows, permissions, and edge cases across Chrome and Edge. Our QA experience includes testing complex business workflows, dashboards, forms, role-based access, calculations, exports, and web applications. We can specifically validate the BOQ builder, cost codes, margins/contingency, PDF/Excel exports, and overall quoting flow. We’re comfortable learning the steel workshop quoting process from your sample spreadsheets and turning that into practical test scenarios and actionable feedback. Happy to start with an initial walkthrough and build the testing/reporting approach together.

Hi, I am a construction professional with practical experience in quantity takeoffs, BOQs, technical documentation, and Excel-based estimating workflows. The most complex takeoff system I have built is a multi-sheet Excel workbook for a five-storey reinforced-concrete building. It includes level-by-level wall and slab calculations, drawing references, formula-driven summaries, geometry checks, assumptions, and QA reconciliation. I can test your platform from an estimator’s perspective, including the BOQ builder, cost-code library, calculation workflows, permissions, margin and contingency controls, and PDF/Excel exports. I will test usability in Chrome and Edge and provide clear, actionable feedback with screenshots, steps to reproduce, expected versus actual results, and improvement suggestions. I am also comfortable using AI tools while manually verifying calculations and workflow results. Would you prefer the test findings in a structured spreadsheet, annotated screenshots, or directly inside the platform? Best regards, Beibit
