The city inspector is concerned there appears to be a gable truss with a completely unsupported bottom chord at my house. Their request if there are drawing repair details must be provided and or have a structural report on the trusses by an engineer.
Here is the condition of my roof trusses which I have two gable trusses side by side,
1. One is on a wall 30 ft in length
2. The other is 2 ft away from it spanning 16 ft as it is sitting on a 2 in x 4 in wall at 16 ft
The rest of the truss is sitting on a triple glulam beam 6 in x12 in at another 14 ft totaling 30 ft. The suspended gable truss is also braced with 2 in x 4 in at the uprights to the gable truss from the bottom to half way up the truss on the wall. This makes it look like the letter N, and every 4 ft is a 2 in x 4 in joining the bottom of the trusses on each side and a continuous 2 in x 4 in under the peek spanning 4 trusses which includes three engineered truss. There is no movement in the suspended gable truss at all.
