our Service Delivery team is looking for a communications expert to hold sessions over skype at our London office to our team based in Sweden. (You will have to be able to come into our office) Before explaining what we’ll need out of these sessions, we’re an IT company with head quarters based in Sweden, but have many offices around the Europe and America. So there are instances where teams have to correspond to managers on the progress of activities and projects in another country. Currently, we’re having issues with the written communications of the Service Delivery Operations team based in Sweden, who need to improve their communications with the Team leader in London. One of the few examples of issues are: • Respondents replying with one word answers for questions that require more explanation. E.g. Progress reports via email will be ‘’Not ready yet’’, when it should include a more comprehensive response covering where they are with the project, what is expected, issues facing, when to expect the project to be done etc. (Past, present and future structure to emails/ who, what, when, how, why) • Respondents have been not facing customers with professional approach to resolving problems. E.g. They do not problem solve and will put blame onto others without offering options or sympathizing with the clients. What is needed from these sessions: • Respondents to communicate professionally and provide a good customer service experience through transparent and effective communication • To understand and create a structure to how they can respond to clients and team leader giving thorough explainations • How to present ‘bad news’ to customers in a structured, proficient and sympathetic way With a better overview of what our team needs, we will also need to keep in mind that english is their second language so sessions will have to be mindful of this.

Worked as a project leader / manager for a French/German company which had a lot of American/English speaking clients - weekly reporting and status updates were essential to the operation. Native German speaker but lived / studied and worked in US for over 20 years. Currently residing in Indonesia but home base Berlin, Germany. Hello there, I can just simply understand how frustrating that can be and let alone run a business that seemed to have lost control. It was just simply that the Swedish have this literal direct style of communicating with people. If you asked them how they feel, they will just tell you how they feel at the moment. In a way, they may not be very trained for how a business culture the world usually works. Having spent more than 10 years of customer service work may help and can possibly alleviate frustration. I have met encountered Swiss, British, Irish, Australian, Italian, and even east and southeast Asian cultural diversity. Understanding, that stipped from these are just people who just want to be heard. I used to work from manufacturing and we needed to bridge the gap between the people who operate the machine and the people to maintain it. My job was to keep things simple for both to understand and being a technician at the time, make it easier for the machine operators. This sounds like the customer to techy guy scenario that you have mentioned. Honestly, English is my second language too and this may also help.
