I am building an Excel model to forecast a chain of retail stores. There are several tabs: a control panel which contains most of the assumptions, a single store forecasting tab, a "waterfall" chart to project stores by year of opening - e.g. -the class of 2015, the class of 2016, etc,; an income statement tab, a balance sheet tab, and a capital expenditure tab. I have a problem that experienced Excel financial modelers will recognize: I'm stumped getting the circularity between the income statement and the balance sheet correct. That is, the balance sheet is out of balance. There is debt, I have an interest rate and I have iterations turned on. However, the more it iterates the further out of balance it gets. I know this is a simple problem for an experienced analyst. I'm behind on getting this projection done and need help! There may be some follow-up work, but it fairness it is likely to be small.
