Automatically Extract data from a Word document and paste that in an Excel sheet

I have a Word document in a report format with several heading, subheadings and sections. I need to use a program which can copy the data from a Word document and paste in an Excel file in a given format.
This has to be done through a program (VBA, or C/Python Script)
Let me know if you think you can do it, and also tell me what tool/method you would like to use to accomplish this.
