Tensile Teast ( stainless steel round bar specimen )

•A tensile test was performed on a stainless steel round bar specimen at 550 ° C.

•The specimen dimensions are: 36.0 mm gauge length, 8.0 mm diameter.

•The extensometer had the maximum travel range of around 5% strain.

•The extensometer was removed at around 5% without interrupting the test.

• The raw data from this test (will be given).

•Load (N), Strain , Machine Displacement (the distance between the top and bottom cross head).

# Required to solve the following:

-Part (1):

1- Plot “Engineering Stress vs. Engineering Strain” using the extensometer data provided (up to around 0.05 strain).

Note: Some non-linearity may be observed at the beginning of the test, due to the slack in the system. You need to correct this part of the data, by removing the data in that region, extrapolating back the linear trend and shifting back the tensile curve.

2-Calculate the Young’s Modulus (E).

3-Plot “True Stress vs. True Strain” using the extensometer data.

4-Calculate
