I am building an off-road ATV for a collegiate competition and need a mechanical designer who can take the concept all the way from initial layout to shop-ready drawings. This is not a cosmetic CAD exercise; every tube, bracket, joint, and weld must be ready for fabrication under real-world constraints. Here’s what I expect: • Collaborative definition of the overall chassis architecture, including expert recommendations on material selection (steel, aluminum, or any alternative you feel best meets strength-to-weight and cost targets) and a suitable suspension concept. • Detailed 3D CAD model produced in a mainstream, production-oriented platform such as SolidWorks, complete with weldments, mounting points, and service clearances. • FEA to validate torsional rigidity, crash loads, and competition rule compliance. • Fully dimensioned drawings with GD&T, cut lists, tube bend data, and a consolidated BOM. • A concise, step-by-step build brief that walks our student team from raw material procurement through jig setup, welding, and final inspection. • Ongoing DFM guidance so we avoid redesign loops once the chassis hits the shop floor. I value prior experience with similar off-road prototypes, and I’m counting on you to flag manufacturability traps before they cost us time, points or money.
