Perth Gamers PDF -- the latest version of my thinking
Concept spiel to my social group when I did the early concepts below -- Hi everyone! With our ever increasing membership, we're reaching the limits of what Facebook can do for us. As such, I've been working on designing a website for the Gaymers. My vision is a website we all want to be a part of, spend time on, and with features that enhance our ability to share, trade and enjoy all things gaming. To facilitate growth, I'm keen that all members will be able to participate on the website with minimal administration or moderation. I've posted a few screenshots to give insight into my thinking.
[url removed, login to view] -- The Game > News page features articles written by members (it's not hooked up to anything else, so we can post what we want and what we think is news). Clicking on the news item will open the full news article, and each article can have images uploaded to a gallery (Had a great raid night? post about it with screenshots!). On the right is an activity ticker, showing any member activity related to this game, with links to take you to the relevant page if possible. The home page will include a similar news pane and activity ticker, combining news and activity from all games that you own or have added to your wishlist.
[url removed, login to view] -- The Game > Players page defaults to showing those people who have nominated themselves as "Active Players" of the game, as distinguished from people who may own the game, and have it in their Library, but who aren't actively playing it; or from people who have added the game to their Wishlist. For multi-platform games, clicking on the Platform will filter down the list; so, for example, if you own Diablo 3 on PS4 and want to find PS4 friends in the list, clicking on the PS4 next to your name will hide the names of anyone playing on other platforms. It will also pull in the relevant Gamer ID from profiles, making it easy to add friends (particularly if you filter for your platform of choice). By default, the list will show the newest players at the top, with the date they added the game to their library listed on the right, so those of you who add friends in batches can easily see where you're up to.
[url removed, login to view] (not a priority, more a wishlist thing) -- The Game > Store page defaults to a list of New & Preowned game prices, as spotted and added by members (ideally there'll be a shortcut on the mobile website for those of us who like to trawl through the preowned stuff at EB and JB, so we can post prices for everyone to see). You'll see there is a posted date, so you can see when the price was spotted by a member. It will only show the latest post for each supplier (Available from), so if Mikey spots a price at JB and posts, and next week Anthony sees a different price at JB and posts, only Anthony's post will show. The green highlight will appear on any posts marked Game (Trade), which indicates a member wants to sell their game (or give it away, you angels). Trades will be prioritised at the top of the list. The Deal column will include a tick next to the best price for each platform, all of which will be up the top by default (e.g. one tick for PS3 Diablo 3, regardless of whether it's new, preowned or available for trade). Clicking on the Platform will filter the list (so if you want it on XB360, you can click on XB360 to filter the list down). Clicking on the Available from field will either open a message to the member trading their game (e.g. Trade with Brad), or open the supplier's website (just the home page, it'll be too complicated to go any deeper).
