Design Dog-Cat Refuge Plan -- 2

I’m laying the groundwork for a small-scale refuge that will offer short-term shelter to dogs and cats. The space must keep both species safe and comfortable, so I need a practical layout that provides clearly separated zones for each, along with an easy flow for daily care routines and cleaning. What I have so far: • The refuge’s sole service will be temporary housing—no on-site adoption center or public veterinary clinic. • Dogs and cats will be the only residents. • Separate areas for each species are non-negotiable; everything else is still flexible as long as animal welfare standards are met. What I’m looking for in this project is a concise, build-ready plan that covers: • A scalable floor plan showing distinct dog and cat sections with suggested square footage, kenneling options, and traffic flow for staff. • Recommendations on materials, ventilation, lighting, and soundproofing that are durable, animal-safe, and easy to sanitize. • A basic operational outline addressing intake, daily care, enrichment, and cleaning procedures suitable for short-term stays.
