CC4002 Website Coursework

Your remit is to design, create and upload your website. It will be viewable by anyone with an internet connection, so be careful what information you put on it. The marks are primarily for content and planning, the marks will not be affected by what application package you use to create it. A simplistic website that has good evidence of planning (both visual and structural design), the correct content, with all links working, would score higher than an all-singing, all-dancing website that did not match all of those criteria.

Viva: You will be allocated a one-to-one viva with your tutor. You should be prepared to explain or expand on any html, design choices or content of your website. It can give you an opportunity to point out anything you are particularly proud of or to demonstrate additional related knowledge you have.

Content: The website should contain:

1. Evidence of planning (the details you give for a-d below will be compared to the finished website that you demonstrate at the viva):

a. Research into website design and storyboarding and write between 200 and 400 words on what you discovered. Don’t forget to quote your references using the Harvard System (follow the link on referencing styles on the front page of the uni library homepage) This can be a webpage, rather than a link to a file. (10 marks)

b. The completed form from the Workshop on Website Design (wk 21), upload it to the weblearn cwk3 assignment area. It should give your website address and list your webpage files with a brief description of each. Bring a copy of it to the viva. Do not put this on your website as it gives your name and ID number. (10 marks)

c. Storyboards for your pages. These can be made using pen and paper or an application, and should be given to your tutor at your viva, also you should scan and make them available on your website (think of the most logical place for this). (10 marks)

d. A hierarchy diagram showing the structure of the website. Scan and make it available on your website (again, think of the most logical place for this). (10 marks)

2. Employment (the following information should be available on your website, it is up to you to determine how to arrange and view it eg webpage or link):

a. the details of a job (you will be given this),

b. the interviewer script (you will be given this),

c. your interviewee script (which you will create),

d. your animated interview or a video of you responding to the interviewer script with your interviewee script (there will be more about this later in the module), (20 marks)

e. your CV* (10 marks)

3. Personal Development Plan (PDP) – there should be a web page for each part:

a. Your personal reflection on the semester and on the academic year as a whole (approx 500 words) (10 marks)

b. Your Action Plan to build on your strengths and identify and develop a way of negating your weaknesses (approx 300 words) (10 marks)

4. Hobbies and Interests*:

a. This should be a webpage that would enhance the good impression you would want to give with a CV, so think carefully on what and how to show your personality on this page. This should NOT be a page designed for you and your friends to see, it is to be designed as something you would like your prospective employer to see to encourage them to hire you. You should consider adding images and links rather than just a short piece of text on its own. (10 marks)
