Why are we doing this?
A database is a repository for data. It allows data to be organized in a way to allow easy
access and manipulation of the data it contains. Traditionally, databases are stored as
files, which contain tables. Tables are composed of records that contain various
columns/fields. For this assignment you will use NJIT’s MySQL server, which is an open
source relational database management system. SQL (Structured Query Language) is a
language that allows for the manipulation of data stored within relational databases.
This assignment will help you understand how to create and manipulate databases.
