I'm writing an early reader's book about a young female protaganist (somewhere between the ages of 5 and 8) who finds herself in situations of embarrassment, betrayal, frustration etc. She prevails in the end of each vignette, picking herself up and dusting herself off. But she also often leaves the situation having learned a little something about the world. These are short, lighthearted stories meant for kids and parents to read together.
I want to make a model volume of 5-10 of these stories and I need 1-2 simple illustrations for each story. (more, if things work out well) I plan to share this prototype with about 10-15 families with kids so I can get a better sense of my target age range.
I'm open to ideas of what this young protagonist looks like but I think at this point, the simpler the illustrations the better. However, I'd ideally like to stray away from being too over the top cartoonish.
