Here is an assignment that i would like you to help me with:
Rent-Play is a chain of Video Game rental shops, where registered users may borrow a number of games for home playing, returning them at a later date to borrow others. They wish to make their video games rental library available online, along the lines of [url removed, login to view] , [url removed, login to view] and other similar sites. You should review several such sites to get a feel for their style.
There are to be three levels of membership, offering 1,2 or 3 games to be borrowed at any one time according to the monthly fee paid. Users may also purchase games.
Users are allowed an initial trial period of 14 days during which they may borrow up to 3 games.
You are to develop a test site as part of a bid to take on the contract to develop a full site for the company.
From a user's point of view, they should be able to:
Register for a free trial
Register as a user on one of the three borrowing levels.
Users are identified by an email address, which can be used for confirmation
Users returning to the site should have the option of having the site remember them so they do not need to log in every time.
Maintain an online list at the site of requests to borrow games, allowing addition, deletion and re-ordering of priorities.
Browse the existing game titles by platform type or game type if needed, and to select titles for rent from the list
Use a shopping basket to buy games
To cancel membership
A company will want to be able to
Review and edit/administer game lists and customer lists
Create reports on popular games, and games that may be constantly out of stock (each game will have multiple copies)
Create reports on customer details, sorted in various ways.
Have a site that is attractive and popular, offering the facilities described.
There are a number of other facilities you may wish to add, and you are strongly recommended to view sample game rental sites for ideas.
Your task is to create such a website, implementing as many of the features as you can.
Your mark will be assessed on a range of criteria, with approximate weightings
The number of facilities 50%
The quality of the code 10%
The quality of the user interface 10%
Ease of use for users administrators 10%
The degree of testing and test data used 10%
The documentation submitted 10%
Where a student has done exceptional work, it will be taken into account in the weightings.
