This is an easier request than most as far as logo's go since we know what we what but I don't have the graphical skills to do it. Please see the attached file... this is a powerpoint version of the logo that we were using to work with a local graphic artist who didn't have the time to finish the work. Essentially we would like our logo to be the 3D gear that you see in the ppt with our initials, "SPL" either embossed or engraved inside the gear. We are a high pressure die casting company and would ideally like the gear with the initials to look like something that we might have produced using that process. If you are unfamiliar with high pressure die-casting take a look at [url removed, login to view] or some of the movies at [url removed, login to view] to get a better idea. Personally I think something that looks like the letters are pressed into the body of the gear to engrave our initials would look better than being embossed but the bosses want to see both versions before they make a final decision. In both cases we need to make sure that the initials are part of the gear body -- not look like they are super-imposed. As you will go through the slide deck you will see that the slides are varying the positioning of our trademark "engineering; done rightTM" at 5 positions. We can worry about the final positioning after the main logo is done. Don't worry about it for the moment. What we would like to do is approve either the engraved or embossed version of the gear with our initials and then worry about getting the final placement of our trademark statement. You might also notice that the image for the gear is actually a low-res clipart from Microsoft's Office Clipart Suite... for copyright's sake you will have to model the gear instead of using the image.
We would like the logo to be done in Blender (latest version [url removed, login to view]) as we would like to work with the Artist at a later time for some animations with our logo and our processes at a later time. Consider this an audition for future work as well assuming you like doing physics process modeling in Blender. The deliverables for this project are as under: 1) Blender file + exported high res image of the gear only 2) Blender file + exported high res image of the gear with our logo "engraved" if you will 3) Blender file + exported high res image of the gear with our logo "embossed" 4) Depending on which one is selected (engraved or embossed) add the trademark phrase in the 5 positions and export as 5 high res images for use as final logo Please do not hesitate to ask me additional questions or any artistic feedback you would like to give (for example, the printability of the logo on paper for letter-heads, use on websites, etc). If you need additional ideas of what we were thinking see some of these blender tutorials: [url removed, login to view] or [url removed, login to view] The material we use is aluminum and therefore will not rust like the steel in the cutting through steel tutorial but its the realism of the texture that we really like... 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

Sorry for the delay folks... I had to travel on an international business trip on short notice and will only be returning back on July 4th. I will select the final coder as soon as I get back. Sorry for the delay. -EntArch
