I’m preparing the concept design package for a new aluminium long boat and want an experienced naval architect or marine engineer to refine and expand the ideas I’ve already drafted. The project is firmly at the concept stage, so the emphasis is on creative yet technically sound solutions that will steer the vessel through preliminary approvals before we move to detailed design. Scope The core task is to translate my initial vision and dimensional targets into a coherent, ship-wide concept that balances passenger comfort, safety, and operational efficiency. You will assess and optimise hull form, stability, weight distribution, tank arrangements, propulsion options, and regulatory compliance (SOLAS, MARPOL, IMO stability codes). A solid grasp of passenger flow, public-space zoning, and hotel-load calculations is essential. Key deliverables • General Arrangement drawing (GA) with main dimensions and space allocation • Initial hydrostatic curves and intact/damage stability snapshots • Preliminary weight estimate and centre-of-gravity spreadsheet • Propulsion & power plant concept with efficiency rationale • Compliance matrix highlighting how the proposal meets relevant class and flag-state rules • A concise design brief (PDF) summarising all assumptions, calculations, and recommendations Acceptance criteria The package must be clear enough for a shipyard or classification society to review at concept level without major information gaps, and every calculation should be traceable back to cited rules or empirical data. Software Feel free to use Rhino, Maxsurf, Orca3D, GHS, NAPA, or equivalent—just deliver source files alongside exported PDFs. If this matches your expertise, let’s discuss timeline and any data you need from me to start.
