Project Title: “Model Predictive Control for PV Water Pumping Systems Based on Synchronous Reluctance Motors”. Problem Identification: The system needs to overcome the non-linear behavior of the SynRM motor and the intermittent nature of solar energy. Conventional controllers (like PI) struggle with fast dynamic responses and torque ripple reduction under variable solar irradiance, which affects the efficiency of the water pumping process. The energy flow proceeds from the solar radiation absorbed by the PV array, through the power electronic converters which condition the power (MPPT and inversion), as shown above Figure 1. To the motor which generates torque, and finally to the pump which creates the pressure and flow required to move water from the source to the storage tank or application site. Proposed Objective: • Implement an MPPT algorithm to track maximum power from the PV source. • Develop a Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategy to drive the SynRM via a DC/AC inverter. • Improve the dynamic response and reduce torque ripples compared to classical methods. • Ensure stable water flow under different weather conditions. Proposed Scope: The simulation includes: PV Array model, DC/DC Boost converter, 3-phase Inverter, MPC controller, SynRM motor model, and a centrifugal pump load. Each block must be implemented as a separate Subsystem. Software Version: MATLAB/Simulink R2024 (Please ensure the file is saved in a compatible format for the 2024 version) Deadline: 2 days
