Electronic Medical Record System Using NFC Technology and Android Platform, XML for data transmission, SQLite for database and Java
Firstly, a small chip that will record all the information regarding the patient including the disease, medicines, last checkup etc could be easily read by the doctor on his/her tablet screen with the help of application based on NFC. Each patient is given a unique NFC tag which is indentified by a unique identification number.
With an EMR system, doctors use specialized software that allows them to enter their patient records electronically. The software stores the patient information on a server and each patient’s complete medical history is available instantly, including digitized copies of x-rays, lab results, prescriptions ordered and other necessary medical data. If the same patient goes to another doctor or a healthcare centre for another diagnosis then the doctor can easily retrieve the patient’s previous medical history from the unique NFC tags and know about the kind of treatment, the previous doctor has prescribed him/her. Thus there is no need to have some centralized database to store all the records. When a person visits the hospital, the health information about the patient will be accessed through the NFC tags which will be synchronized and stored temporarily on that particular hospital or healthcare centre. The doctor can easily access full information about the particular patient by viewing the patient EMR instead of going through bundle of paper reports. If the patient is been asked to take any tests then those test reports will also be updated in that EMR. Based on the test, the updates which the doctor prescribed, will be updated too in their EMR.
