1. Use smart phone and headset as an audiometer:
i. Generate tones to test user’s hearing capacity at several different frequencies.
ii. Decibel/volume level is adjusted at each tested frequencies so that user can appropriately distinguish tone.
iii. Perform test and adjustment on each ear separately.
iv. Final test with previously adjusted levels on both ears to confirm setting.
v. Test results in a personalized audiogram that is stored for user.
vi. Different environmental/situational background noise(ie. noisy street, movie theater, lecture hall) can be simulated and test can be repeated as in (i~v) and stored as preset situational modes for user.
2. Volume and frequency settings can be adjusted for phone calls and music/movie player used within the phone can be adjust accordingly to results of testing in (1).
3. Use phone as listening device:
i. When app is launched, adjusted volume/frequency levels according to test results from (1) allow phone to be a listening device that receives sound through the microphone(internal or external) and outputs adjusted sound to headphones.
ii. Other preset modes, with adjustments from results from (1.v) can also be selected by user according to environment/situation that user is currently in.
iii. Supplement mode also allows for volume/frequency adjusted on-the-fly for situations that do not fall into the preset modes and for situations where sudden background noise is present(ie. noisy street construction or loud nearby talker)
