This usually breaks on VPS because of one boring thing (wrong env vars, ports/firewall, systemd misconfig, or Nginx/SSL routing), so I’ll trace logs end-to-end, fix the root cause, then lock it down with a reproducible deploy script. How I’ll tackle it: • Diagnose: check systemd/pm2 logs, uvicorn/gunicorn output, Next build logs, open ports, DNS, and Nginx config to see exactly why services won’t stay up. • Configure: set correct env vars, bind addresses/ports, CORS, and reverse proxy routes (Next → :3000, FastAPI → :8000, or whatever you use). • SSL + domains: install/repair Let’s Encrypt, force HTTPS, and verify domain → server routing. • Keep it alive: set up systemd services (or Docker Compose) so both apps restart on reboot and auto-recover on crashes. • Reproducible deploy: leave you a short 'run these commands' doc (build, migrate if needed, restart services, tail logs).
