I need a full-featured COMSOL Multiphysics model of an integrated Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) optical sensor built on a silicon platform. The end goal is a design that delivers precise measurements by maximising phase sensitivity and minimising loss. The task covers waveguide geometry definition, material assignment (silicon core with appropriate cladding), port excitation, mesh optimisation, and wavelength-swept analysis. You will also tune arm length differences or refractive-index perturbations so that the output interference fringes can be used as a high-resolution sensing metric. If you prefer scripting in the COMSOL Java API or using the built-in optimisation module to automate parameter sweeps, feel free to do so—just document the workflow clearly. Deliverables • COMSOL (.mph) file with fully-parametric geometry, study steps, and ready-to-run solvers • Brief PDF explaining model assumptions, boundary conditions, and how to replicate the key plots (transmission spectrum, effective index, phase shift vs. perturbation) • Short note on how the design could be fabricated in silicon photonics (material stack, typical dimensions) When you respond, focus on relevant experience—especially previous COMSOL or silicon photonics simulations.
