I need a hardware designer who can take my concept for a compact “heartbeat” monitor and turn it into a fully-tested PCB that I can drop straight into network control boxes. The unit must run on a 12 V supply, use an ESP32 or similar, and expose a standard Ethernet port. Once powered, it should sense the input voltage, confirm link integrity, and—on a watchdog timer—send a small JSON payload via HTTP POST to my web server. I’ll handle all firmware in C++; what I’m after is the electronics and the board itself. Key points • 12 V input with on-board regulation suitable for the ESP32 • Reliable standard-speed Ethernet (no PoE needed) • Voltage and link-status monitoring lines broken out for code access • Footprint kept as small as practical for enclosure mounting Deliverables for the initial prototype 1. Complete schematic, PCB layout files, and BOM (Gerber, Pick-and-Place, etc.) 2. One fully assembled, tested board ready for firmware flashing 3. Brief test report confirming stable 12 V tolerance, Ethernet link, and sensor outputs If the prototype performs as expected, I’ll commission a first batch of at least ten units, with a view to scaling to 100+ in production.

Hello, I can take your heartbeat monitor concept and turn it into a compact, reliable PCB that’s ready to drop into your network control boxes with minimal iteration. I understand the focus is on solid hardware: stable 12 V operation, dependable Ethernet connectivity, and clean signal access so you can handle all firmware in C++. I will base the design on an ESP32 with an external PHY like LAN8720 to ensure stable standard-speed Ethernet and good long-term availability. The power stage will convert 12 V to 3.3 V using an efficient, low-noise buck regulator with proper filtering and protection, ensuring stable operation in industrial environments. I will also include a voltage sensing circuit scaled safely for the ESP32 ADC so you can monitor input supply directly in your code. For Ethernet, I’ll implement proper differential pair routing, impedance awareness, and a standard RJ45 interface. Link status and relevant signals will be exposed to the ESP32 and broken out where useful for debugging or future expansion. The PCB will be a compact 4-layer design with strong grounding, clean power distribution, and a footprint suitable for tight enclosures. Test points and programming access (UART) will be included to simplify bring-up and validation.

Hello, I understand you need a compact embedded hardware solution: an ESP32-based Ethernet “heartbeat” monitor that runs on 12V, monitors voltage + link status, and sends periodic JSON via HTTP POST. I have strong experience in embedded systems, ESP32-based designs, PCB layout, and IoT hardware development, including power regulation design, Ethernet (LAN8720 / W5500 class modules), and reliable industrial monitoring devices. For your project, I would design a compact PCB with a stable 12V input stage (including protection, filtering, and step-down regulation for ESP32), integrated Ethernet interface (RMII or SPI-based depending on reliability/space tradeoff), and exposed GPIO lines for voltage sensing and link-status monitoring. The design will prioritize industrial stability, low noise, and safe operation inside control box environments. Deliverables will include full schematic, optimized PCB layout (Gerber + BOM + Pick-and-Place), and a tested prototype board ready for firmware flashing. I will also validate key requirements such as 12V tolerance, Ethernet link stability, and sensor readouts before handover. Before starting, I’d like to confirm: Do you prefer a native Ethernet MAC/PHY design (LAN8720) or a simpler SPI Ethernet module (W5500) for faster prototyping? What enclosure size constraints should I design around for the final PCB footprint? Thanks, Asif

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve read this carefully—this is a clean, focused design, and I can deliver a compact, reliable board you can drop straight into your system. I’ve built ESP32 + Ethernet designs before, including LAN8720-based RMII interfaces, stable 12 V input stages, and production-ready layouts. My approach: • 12 V input → protected buck (low-noise 3.3 V rail) • ESP32 + LAN8720 (RJ45 magjack) for stable Ethernet • Voltage sense via divider → ADC pin • PHY link status → GPIO interrupt for fast detection • Compact 4-layer PCB (GND + power planes for integrity) • Test points for power, RMII, and debug access Deliverables: • Schematic + PCB (KiCad) + Gerbers + BOM (availability checked) • 1 assembled, tested prototype • Test report (power stability, Ethernet link, I/O validation) Milestones: Architecture + component selection Schematic + layout Fabrication + assembly Bring-up + testing + delivery Quick questions: Preferred connector: integrated RJ45 magjack or external PHY + jack? Any strict size constraints for enclosure fit? Happy to get this into a clean, scalable design for your 100+ unit phase.

Best Compact Ethernet Hardware Design Expert! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dear Client, The biggest risk in this project is not making a board send a heartbeat. It is building one that looks simple, but becomes unreliable because of weak 12 V regulation, Ethernet bring-up issues, or poor link-status handling inside a compact enclosure. That is what separates a working demo from a dependable product. I would approach this by: 1. choosing the leanest practical MCU/Ethernet architecture for fast boot, clean BOM, and reliable network behavior 2. designing the PCB around solid 12 V input regulation, compact Ethernet layout, and accessible test points 3. delivering the schematic, layout, assembled prototype, and test results so the board is ready for firmware loading and production scaling This keeps the first revision focused on reliable transmission and clean integration inside your control box, not unnecessary feature creep. Two quick questions: 1. Is your stronger priority the smallest footprint possible, or maximum robustness for future batch production? 2. Do you want the hardware prepared for only DHCP + fallback logic, or should the board leave room for future watchdog/reset features too? If you message me, I can outline the cleanest hardware path so the first prototype is stable and easy to reproduce. Best regards, Prat PCB Must Innovations
