I'm looking for a parser which takes as input a folder of individual fixed width .txt files. An example of over 30 of these files can be found in the attached zip file.
The files are from the site [login to view URL] and give the stock holdings of funds. The problem is, it is not in a consistent, structured format. The job is to whip up a quick parser in whatever language/system is the fastest and best, which successfully works for all the files in the example (actually, I would want it to work for an even larger sample to ensure correctness).
Ideally, I would be able to mess around with the program in C# .net, but this is not a requirement. I will eventually pull the clean, parsed data into a SQL server 2008 database, but if that will make things more complicated, it's fine to have the parser output to standard .csv format.
I can give more specifics later as to the desired structure of the output, but it is very straightforward-- there are only about 9 or 10 "columns", and anywhere from 0 to a couple hundred "rows"/"records" for each of the .txt files.
I really don't think this project is too hard or complicated, so I'm starting the bidding at $75.
