I am looking to employ an individual or company who can manage my programming requirements for my ASP Classic based e-commerce website. We are an established Internet retailer (and lately, wholesaler) since 2001. Our main business platform is [[url removed, login to view]]
I have a long wishlist of features and enhancements that I want to implement on the website and so am looking to enter into a long term relationship with a programmer or software house.
As the website is live, I am placing heavy emphasis on testing and Quality Assurance as even a small bug can cause us serious headaches. We have a beta site in place on the same server that will be used for development.
I would like proposals from interested persons on how they intend to work and how they can ensure that all work will be checked before putting into the production environment.
The website is very large and so it will take some weeks before the successful candidate will become familiar with its workings. However we have some documentation and another programmer who has been working on the website for almost 2 years from whom you can ask questions.
I think it would be better to pay-for-time as a lot of time will be spent initially understanding the processes of the website. However, ideally I would also like 2 or 3 people to be involved in the development i.e coder, QA and senior.
Please let me have your proposals and include your past experience for this project. This is at minimum a 6 month project, ,probably longer for the right company / programmer.
1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement).
2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
3) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Employer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Employer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the employer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this project.

Hello Judging from most people's comments, you would like to see a list of the work to be carried out and a sample of the code being used on the website. Also I would like to nail down a method of charging and rates. As I mentioned previously I would like to work pay-for-time if you can do this what will be the hourly rate? I understand pay-for-time may be difficult for companies. Therefore I would like to hear your alternative suggestions in regards to thisand how you can give me an idea of yr charges? Please see here for a sample of the types of tasks that are required. There are many more besides these [url removed, login to view] And u may download the code for the index page to give u an idea of the standard of coding here: [url removed, login to view] Also some bidders wanted to know if we have plans to move to [url removed, login to view] This is obviously on my mind, but as it is such a large website, it would mean a huge investment of time and money. Thanks Atif
