MySpace Friend ASP Script

*I want a script that tells me who of my MySpace friends has me listed as one of _their_ top friends.

The idea is to create a Microsoft ASP script / page that given your own MySpace profile URL, it displays your top friends, much the same way MySpace currently displays top friends. With each top friend displayed, the page indicates if you are also a top friend of your friend (that is, you are on each other's top friend list). If you are on each other's top friend list, a numeric value indicates which top friend position you are in.

The enhanced version of this script would allow the user to optionally visit _all_ of his or her friends (not just top friends) and see who has them listed as a top friend. All friends would be listed on a single result page (i.e., no result pagination required).

This may require login information (to acces those profiles which are private), which is only stored in a cookie on the user's own computer and only if the user elects to "Remember my Login Info". This version of the script should be able to accomodate potentially many friends as some people have a lot.

The script should be runnable in basic and enhanced mode. The attached .zip file contains a simple mock screen layout.

**NOTE:** This is a script for entertainment purposes to see who of your top friends also has you listed as one of their top friends. This is not an email harvesting or spamming tool.

## Deliverables

**_Implementation Notes_**

Essentially, the ASP script accepts an input URL, then goes to MySpace and retrieves the numeric FriendID (X) associated with that URL (extracted from the link to View All friends). It then scans the page and extracts the list of Top Friends, saving the FriendID's and friend display names for each top friend into a temporary table within the script.

The second portion of the script then will visit the profile page of each top friend in the table and see if the friendid of original profile (X) is a top friend of the visited profile (Y). If the person (X) is a top friend of (Y), the script will identify which top friend numerically (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) (X) is on (Y)'s top friends list.

The page should have an input at the top for the URL. Below that are three radio buttons which select the photo display size (Small, Medium, or Large) with a "See My Top Friends!" button next to that. Below that (when results are available), it should display the list of top friends 6 photos across per row. Each friend image and name should link (with TARGET="_blank") back to that user's MySpace profile.

In order to simplify image display, the following URLs can be used to extract the desired size photo associated with a profile, given the FriendID YYYYY:

<[url removed, login to view]>

<[url removed, login to view]>

<[url removed, login to view]>

Note that some people will have just 4 top friends while others may have up to 24 top friends.

The URL below is what isn used to go to a particular profile page, given a FriendID YYYYY:

<[url removed, login to view]>

There is a Java application which visits all of a MySpace user's friends. This might be useful just to see how it works. See:

| | <[url removed, login to view]>.

It is a Java-based applet which retrieves all of your friends and creates a nifty little graph. You might take a look at how it works by looking at the source in: <[url removed, login to view]> |

**NOTE:** I *might be open* to considering a Java applet based implementation, though I am not entirely keen on it. Sorry, no PHP implementations at this time.

**_Additional Features

_**(a) Those friends which are my own top friends should have a red background behind / border to their respective photos. This means that the script will have to remember which FriendIDs are top friends of the user.

(b) I would also like to have the results optionally alphabetically sorted by the user display names for each photo (if the user checks a sort alphabetically checkbox).

**_Other Requirements_**

1) Complete and fully-functional script as well as complete source code of all work done, including make files, build scripts, etc. Installation instructions with any configuration requirenments must be included for setting script up on a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server.

2) Keep use of .NET extensions to a minimum. More classic-style hand-coded ASP is preferred.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

**_Additional Notes

_**An ASP GetExternalHTML() function can be found at:

<[url removed, login to view]>
