Hello - thank you for responding to my project proposal. The purpose of the project is to allow users access to tif images of multipage documents (they are over 10 pages) that are being stored on my server. The files are large, approximately 10 MB each. I need the users to be able to see the images of all pages such as in a print preview, and print them as well.
The exact functions needed are as follows: 1) I need the users to be able to select view a png representation of the tif file because the tifs are too large to load into the web form. I dont know if I need to have a separate png file of the tif created first, or if the web application can create a png of the tif on the fly - but that is a question for the developer. 2) Users need to be able to see one or all of the pages as in a print preview, where they can scroll to different pages, rotate (in 90 degree increments), and zoom. 3) Because the png files are necessarily smaller and lower in resolution than the original tif file, I need the users to be able to select a print option, which then sends to their printer a print job of the tif file - not the png - but without prompting the user to download the tif image itself. It should be transparent to the user that this is taking place. 4) The final and SEPARATE piece to this project would be to be able to create a .exe of this project so that it can be put on CD with any random tifs, so that this browser function can be carried to an independent or remote machine that is not connected to the intranet, or internet, for viewing of the tif files. For the web form part (#'s 1-3), I am going to draw file paths from a sql db, but for the purpose of this project you only need to provide a single example, where you can hard-code the path. I also dont require any design or formatting, as that will be taken care of by my design team. I just need the functionality. For the independent part (#4), I would prefer that no installation be required on the independent or remote machine, and again I dont require design or formatting. And although I would like to see a completed .exe, I need to have the uncompiled code. I would prefer that the entire project be coded in vb.net and vs.net.
