This needs to be a native Windows application which will allow a user to select an entire volume or an arbitrary set of files through a graphical (explorer-type) interface and have them backed up to a firewire-connected DV or Digital8 camcorder.
If the data is too large for one tape, the program should be smart enough to span tapes. A file table of contents directory should be included on the tape as well as a small file stored on the PC so that individual files may be restored quickly and easily through the program interface.
Robust error correction should be included to prevent tape dropout from causing data loss.
Preferably written in C or C++. Should run on Windows 98SE or greater.
