I have a Windows computer that needs to automaticly connect every night to Dos computers and take files from a preconfigured path (from the remote dos pc > to the windows pc. )
So i need:
**_"Waiting for connection" for DOS_** ( Lets call it the "Dos server" ) :- It will have to give options to
select from com 1 to 4 and will "remember" the selection .
it will have to handle bussy line or line problems with friendly
error messages ("Line bussy " "no line" error messeges ).
**_On the windows user's side_** (Lets call it the "Client side") **Should be in vb6 code**. -
Automated dialing sessions that will use prefrences from its config menu:
**_The Config menu :_**
1- Modem selection menu : (to select the modem that will be used for dialing.)
2- A list of the locations to call ("Of the servers to call")
,when for each server in the list- i can configure the:
Exact Time to call each sepcific server.
Server's phone number to dial.
Server's Paths selection menu:
In order to take files from a specific path on the "server dos machine" and then transfer them to the client's
(windows machine) - we will need to configure two paths :
A- From where (Path\ *.* ) to take the files (from the dos pc)
B-Where to put them on the windows pc (Path\) .
Finaly sessions will produce Log text file that will show each session's events:
Time of session.
list of succesfully transfered files.
list of files Not transfered.
General Problems/Errors to handle:
If the file transfer was partial (Didnt complete to transfer all files ) then
put information in the session's log file (name of the files that were successfully transfered.)
If "Line is bussy " on one of the servers - then call the next server
and try to call the bussy server - later.
If it is the only server to call and line is still bussy - then try to call again 5 more times
Before we log it as "failed to conect - line bussy".
if its time to call a new server but the previuse server's session is still running
then wait for the current session to end.
