The desired program will chart indices, futures contracts, and securities over a variety of intraday and day-to-day time frames. Please see examples at the following links: <[url removed, login to view]> , <[url removed, login to view]>
We would like the chart formats to be similar to that on BigCharts--price & quote information at the top and large chart on the bottom. The chart should take up the vast majority of the screen and display details clearly. It is important for us to visually discern the highs and lows. We would like a text box for symbols and a drop box for a variety of time frames, just like BigCharts. The day-to-day charts should be in the bar chart format as shown on the 1-year BigChart. The intraday charts should display every last print as shown on the 1-day BigChart. We would also like 2-, 5-, 10-day charts to be in the same chart format as the 1-day BigChart.
One additional capability we would like is to be able to chart intraday charts on a 24-hr basis. (Maybe a toggle to allow us to switch back and forth between regular hours and 24 hours.) Many of the financial instruments we look at trade around the clock.
Do try out some of BigCharts' interactive charting capabilities. We plan to eventually enhance the functionality of the program beyond what is available on BigCharts, so the coder should design plenty of flexibility into the program. This can lead to a long-term project.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Prices & quotes for the various instruments are provided by Interactive Brokers. The coder must learn by himself/herself how to obtain the real-time data from Interactive Brokers' trading platform--we cannot be of help on this matter. Information on the trading platform is available at: [[url removed, login to view]] --> systems --> demo --> user's guide. You should be able to find the necessary information for downloading price data at: [[url removed, login to view]] --> systems --> API/FIX --> Application Program Interface (API)
We currently have another program that saves price data into .mdb files. This program appends new data to the .mdb files 24-hrs a day. Historical data stored in the .mdb files should be available to the charting program. The live data might also be available. (We are not positive about the accessibility of the stored data.)
It would be very helpful if the coder is already familiar with the Interactive Brokers platform and with databases. However, if the coder has excellent qualifications but is not familiar with Interactive Brokers or databases, we might be able to retain a consultant to advise on technical issues.
Feel free to ask questions or make comments on any of the above. We like to be certain the coder can complete what is required. We will be available to explain the terminologies and workings for someone who is not familiar with the financial markets.
