Pound is an open source reverse HTTP proxy and load balancer written in C. We need the ability to map to do random but static mapping of hostnames to backend servers. For example, Pound has an existing pool of five servers, web1-5. Pound needs to use a static hash algorithm to map an incoming request for [url removed, login to view] to one of the webs, and all future requests for [url removed, login to view] need to go to that same backend web. If the size of the pool changes, for example from 5 to 8, then the mappings would change. Deliverable would be a patch to Pound 2.3.2 GPL source we can apply locally to create a static hash map of hostnames to backend servers within a pool. We have millions of hostnames, it's impractical to have a vhost entry for each one. It needs to be a session type in pound, for example right now you can have something like: Session Type IP TTL 300 End We want: Session Type hostname TTL 0 End To create static hostname->backend sessions that never expire.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
