What we need is a web-crawler that can crawl web-pages and identify banner-adds. All identified banner-adds should be crawled in order to identify the homepage of the advertiser.
The Urls to be crawled should be feed to the crawler from a list (text-file, spreadsheet, access-database or simular).
**What is a banner-add?**
Graphical object on a website that leads to an external webpage.
The banner-adds can consist of jpg, gif, still-picture, animations, or flash-animations. The challenge will be to create a crawler that can identify these objects and determine if they are are adds.
If the banner contains a link that leads to an external webpage, direct or indirect , the banner is treated as an add.
Since the link leading outside the domaine will often be a redirect, so the crawler must crawl potentiel url's to see where they lead (the target URL).
The crawler must return a spreadsheet (excel) with all banner-adds found.
The spreadsheet should list: Url of homepage crawled, banner-add ID, target URL of the banner-add found and the title of the webpage found at the target URL.
This is a pilot-project. If the Crawler is a succes, further devolpment-work will be offered the winning bid.
