We need to automate the process whereby a client visiting our website can fill in a search form, submit it and have it collected on the server.
At this point a program will take the input fields and effectively place them in a similar
search form on the server. This second form will be the form which we currently use to search our supplier's database. The program will then submit the form to our suppliers database.
The returned results will be collected on the server and formatted in our own specified format and sent back to the client.
The client will then choose which item they wish to view or purchase and this request will again be searched from the supplier's database.
The final result will be collected at the server, formatted and sent back to the client as 'our' page.
_*In summary*_ We require the client to use
our search form on our website but the results will be collected from our suppliers'
website database and appear to the client
seamlessly in our format.
It is our idea that the client is not directly searching the database themselves but passing their search terms to us to perform the search.
We have a sample website at
**<[url removed, login to view]>
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site).
On the sample website the search button at the top right takes you to the search form we use to search our supplier's database.
This can be searched in the normal manner, however a user name and password may be required. This would need to be embedded
in the program so that the password box never appears to the client :
User name : boo603
Password : 2LZ6XKYC
This search form should appear to the client
in the format as seen at the link in the left frame 'Our Search Form'.
The search results list should appear to the client as seen at the link in the left frame
'Our Results Page'.
The final chosen item should appear to the client as seen at the link in the left frame
'Our Order page'.
In the sample there is also a HEADER page
attached to the final order page.
This script can be found on this page :

The sample website is just that and there
will likely be some changes to the format of the final pages.
We do not know if the above work can be done without reference to our supplier's
IT Systems. We are sure however that if any information or source code is required
from our supplier, they would be willing to provide it,especially if as stated above it is not the client who has direct access to their database.
Other Questions at this stage :
1/ We do not envisage heavy use for this site but what would happen if a number of clients tried to access the search facility at the same time?
2/ Is it possible to write the program in such a way that it could be easily modified to get data from other suppliers' sites?
Not known at this time.
Advide needed from programmers.
