I am a university researcher. We had saved IE files for a project and the names of the folders that hold the images have been changed for a previous study. I need a program to restore the original folders' names so that we can properly open the IE files.
Original files: '[url removed, login to view]' -and- 'Google_files'
Current files: '[url removed, login to view]' -and- 'Google'
We need: '[url removed, login to view]' -and- 'Google_files'
Sometimes the keyword ("Google" in this example) is not stated in the file name but within the .htm file, so the program needs to find it, then copy the name of the file where it finds it into the name of the "_file"
Original files: "[url removed, login to view]" and "example_files"
Current files: "[url removed, login to view]" and "Google"
Keyword: "Google" exists within the "example_htm" file
We need: "[url removed, login to view]" and "example_files"
The first steps is:
Essentially there are folders placed within a bigger folder. The individual folders contain IE files and image files as well as other associated files, such as pdf reports etc. The aim of the program I am looking for is to make all of the IE files within all these directories operable. However, it seems that there are 2 or 3 different things that do not allow them to open properly. The most common reason is a name change of the image files or folders. I am still checking what the other reasons are exactly.
However, for the moment, the first step of the program will be to find to find out which files are in any of these states:
1-Fully operational IE files within the folder
2-IE files within the folder can be opened but with missing images
3-Empty folers, with no files inside
The result will be to have a list of the folders with their status.
-111 Costco Wholesale: Empty
-204 Nike: Imperfect loading (explain: missing file, or what is it that went wrong)
-402 Pathmark Stores: Regular
So all I should have to do is enter the main folder name ('Global 500' in this example), and the program will automatically check all the subfolders one level down. And then I would manually enter the info into our spreadsheets, before we move on to resolve the problem, and get the operational files for the actual research.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
Windows, anything between "98 and 2003 will do.
