The following project consists of the following: We have a client wanting to port thier database to firebird. Our first task is to determine if it is feasable. We need to determine the following: 1. Using Delphi and both firebird embedded edition and server edition, create a menu with the options: file new, file open, and file close. File new will create a new .gdb database, the catch is to name the file with a different extension, .xim , this is a strict requirement of the client. File open will open a firebird database with the .xim extension. File close will close the firebird database. 2. We need to make sure that the following can be done with the firebird server edition: - Create table - Alter table - Drop Table The above items must be completed while users are connected to the firebird database. Our clients application makes use of table creation and modification on the fly, and we have to allow users to be connected to the database while making changes. Note, we are not talking about making the changes to a table a user is connected to.
