I need a little help writing a small program that would change the names of some Internet Explorer files for a university research project. The fact is that the names have been cut accidentally when the files were put on the CD and we need their original names restored so that the image files will open properly. I have a VBScript program the finds out which files open and which ones don't, but I need someone to write an extra bit that will actually change the files names. This could be in Java or some other lang. I need them a bit urgently
Thanks a lot!
Here is an example directory. Essentially there are folders placed within a bigger folder. The individual folders contain IE files and image files as well as other associated files, such as pdf reports etc. The aim of the program I am looking for is to make all of the IE files within all these directories operable. However, it seems that there are 2 or 3 different things that do not allow them to open properly. The most common reason is a name change of the image files or folders. I am still checking what the other reasons are exactly (I didn't gather the data, someone else created it for another part of the study).
However, for the moment, the first step of the program will be to find to find out which files are in any of these states:
1-Fully operational IE files within the folder
2-IE files within the folder can be opened but with missing images
3-Empty folers, with no files inside
The result will be to have a list of the folders with their status.
So in this case it will be:
-111 Costco Wholesale: Empty
-204 Nike: Imperfect loading (explain: missing file, or what is it that went wrong)
-402 Pathmark Stores: Regular
So all I should have to do is enter the main folder name ('Global 500' in this example), and the program will automatically check all the subfolders one level down. And then I would manually enter the info into our spreadsheets, before we move on to resolv the problem, and get the operational files for the actual research.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
