We're looking for a Magic developer with particular experience in Components, and in using them to build highly modularized applications.
Some background: We are in the process of evaluating several alternative development platforms, and the requirement to componentize is important to us because of the vertical markets we plan to address. Each client may very well have a customized application, but the customizations will be limited to specific functional areas. Thus components are critical in order to be able to maintain the code and manage upgrades and deployment.
Magic has many benefits, but without this capability we probably won't be able to use it. The job right now is to assist us in our evaluation by writing some small pilot components which you will combine/recombine into several variants of an application, to our spec, in order to exercise Magic's compenentization abilities.
Initial engagement will be short-term; possibility for extended enagement as well. Can work from anywhere.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site).
4) Internal and external documentation to enable Magic non-experts to understand what was done in the authoring of the components and their use within an application.
Magic generic. We will be testing using Magic 9.3, though will likely use 9.4 in production. Our environment is currently Windows XP Pro, MS SQL.
