We are currently using a Searchable Database on our web site to produce questions and answers. The questions and answers are displayed by one of two ways. One is to select from one of the categories on the left hand side the other is to use the Search the Help Database by keyword, phrase or category. The disadvantage of using either method is that the lists of Questions and Answers can be rather long .The html page is initially displayed as in screenshot 1. Clicking on a Category produces a list of Questions and Answers as in screenshot 2. We would like to make it more friendly for the site visitor in that 1 clicking a Category will produce a list of questions as in screenshot 3. 2 Clicking a Question will produce just that one Question with its answer. I can have got as far as screenshot 3 but that is it. The “Search the Help Database by keyword, phrase or category:-“ is quite crude in that it produces a result for every word submitted. It cannot be asked to search by phrase. So it would be rather nice if that could be improved. The test data base can be seen at [login to view URL] The scripting file is helper.cgi. which is the one which needs to be worked on. The database is a txt file stored on the server which consists of seven fields per row and called by a file called [login to view URL] The database fields are: Category -- this is the Category Subject -- this is the Question Article -- this is the answer Link Linktitle Author Ref -- a reference number used by the database. Can anyone modify the scripting to make this work for me? Should the above be unclear please ask and I will do my best to clarify it
