We're looking for a unified shipping cost/rate calculation class that can be submitted to PEAR, similar to their payment processing class: [url removed, login to view] It should be completely modular, so its easy to add additional modules to connect to other shipping companies. For now though, we would like it to connect to UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL and Canada Post in real-time to obtain exact shipping costs and get tracking information. We would like to keep it relatively simple for now, so if it just obtained shipping rates that is fine. Here is an example of what the classes _might_ look like: Services_Shipping_Rates, Services_Shipping_Rates_UPS, Services_Shipping_Rates_FedEx, Services_Shipping_Rates_Aggregate, (used to obtain rates from more then one service at the same time, to obtain the cheapest/quickest company.) The class should adhere to all PEAR coding standards, and use other PEAR classes as dependencies for things like XML parsing, SOAP (preferred method if possible) and/or generic HTTP_Request/Net_CURL. There has already been some discussion in the PEAR mailing lists regarding this, including some code: UPS module, with code: [url removed, login to view] Mailing thread: [url removed, login to view] [url removed, login to view]
