I have a Filemaker database that we use to log and track our quotes. The file is shared with Instant Web Publishing and I get info out of the database with Crystal reports. The database needs to be rebuilt so that I can get more info out of it.
The main problem with the database is that the items that are quoted are in text block and that makes the information less usable once I export it. I tried to make the item a repeating field, but then I cannot export the information.
The database needs to be accessible for updates via the web for users to enter their quotes. I need to be able to get the data out to use in excel (either through Crystal Reports or as an export to Excel).
The database fields will be
Salesperson (needs to be limited to certain values)
Quote Date (format checked)
Quote number (auto generated in sequence)
Customer Name (drop down, from a lookup to another table)
Status (drop down, needs to be limited to certain values)
Chance of Winning (drop down, needs to be limited to certain values)
Order Expected (drop down, List of Calendar months)
Comment (text field)
The following items will appear 10 times
Quantity (numerical only)
Item (drop down, lookup to table with list of items)
Extended Price (Quantity * Price)
After the 10 fields we need a Total Quote, which will be the total of the extended price fields.
All fields are required to submit the entry.
**I am open to discuss solutions with programs other than Filemaker Pro (MySQL or whatever else might work). That is what I have used because it's what I know. Whatever will get the job done is fine. The database must be reliable, web accessible, and provide me with the information I need. Via the web users must be able to enter records, but then also be able to search for them update them at later date**
