I am a financial advisor who does retirement distribution planning. I need a program where I can enter in variable data such as types of investments, i.e. mutual funds, IRAs, brokerage accounts, annuities, CDs, etc. I would like to assign various projected return rates, 3%, 4%, 5%, etc. The first calculations would involve future value of these investments and anticipated income needs that would go up each year bt an inflation factor. 3%, 3.5%, etc. For example if the individual is 55 years old and wants to retire in 5 years, the software would calculate both the income needs against the anticipated growth of the investments. The income may also be offset be socoal security, pension, etc. At the anticpated retirement age, we would then assign various "buckets" of money to draw for a certain period of time. For example, if we needed $3000 per month, going up by inflation each month, I would like to earmark a certain investmnet, i.e. CD to fund bucket #1. The software would then calculate how much we need in present value dollars to fund this bucket an deach succeeding bucket, maybe 4 in all. We would continue this strategy over the remaining years of that individual in retirement.
I would need to create reports with columns showing all the different factors, ie income need, sos sec, pension, net need, shortage/surplus and total balance of investment portfolio. In addition, I would need a graph so the client can see the results in thefprm of a graph.
I have attmepted this porject with the help of friends in an Excel spreadsheet, but is still not that flexible with the various data.
