We need a rudimentary (but robust) pop3 implementation in php5.x. All emails and the username and password for email accounts need to stored as files. (No database). The directory structure should be
[url removed, login to view]
<filename> // e.g., 982398293
Only the following commands need to be supported
See <[url removed, login to view]> for pop3 RFC.
The program needs to be implemented using php sockets. See <[url removed, login to view]> to learn how to implement sockets in php. See <[url removed, login to view]> for a nice example that doesnt require forking.
The end result should be compatible with MS Outlook and Outlook express (i.e., I should be able to configure outlook [express] to retrieve the messages.
All emails need to be stored as files. Since SMTP doesnt need to be implemented, allow the implementation to post messages through an http interface and also through a simple upload (dropping a file in the messages directory of a particular user).
