We need a rudimentary (but robust) smtp server implementation in php5.x.
As opposed to a real SMTP server, this program does not relay. It will just store the received messages in a directory based on the receiver's email address
In fact, all received emails and the username and password for email accounts need to stored as files. (No database).
The directory structure should be
..[url removed, login to view]
.... // e.g., 982398293
.... // e.g., afd536abc
See <[url removed, login to view]> for the SMTP standard
The program needs to be implemented using php sockets. See <[url removed, login to view]> to learn how to implement sockets in php. See <[url removed, login to view]> for a nice example that doesnt require forking.
The end result should be compatible with MS Outlook and Outlook express (i.e., I should be able to configure outlook [express] to send messages (that are stored in the specified directory).
The only required extension is the authentication extension (i.e., I should be able to select "SMTP server requires authentication" and specify a username and password)
This program will be used in conjunction with
<[url removed, login to view]>
