I own a business that operates youth sports tournaments. I have previously maintained the data on Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, but I’m sure that a database program such as Access would serve this business better. I’ve started this project in Access, but don’t have the expertise to complete it. The work product includes three documents. The first document is a Pool report named Boys Schedule and Girls Schedule. In this case there are two documents, one for boys and one for girls, but only one document is necessary. This document is posted at each tournament venue and is used for reporting the game times and results for each pool. The second document is a Master Schedule. It is used for reporting a complete list of games in the tournament by venue on one document. The third document is an Access program that I have started regarding this project using actual data from a previous tournament. The data includes Access tables for actual teams, game times, venues, pools, age brackets, and game results. Each tournament, which typically lasts 3 days over a weekend, has 20-150 teams in different age brackets. For example, a recent tournament had 137 boys and girls teams that are formed by grade level. These 137 teams consisted of six 3rd grade boys teams, seven 4th grade boys teams, etc. These teams are aggregated into “pools??. For example, there is a 3rd grade boys’ pool, a 4th grade boys’ pool, etc. The teams will typically play pool games vs. all other teams in their pool. After the pool games are completed, the teams can advance to play additional games in a tournament format. The tournaments are typically played at more than one venue. I've attached an actual tournament's data, such as game day, game times, venues, teams, scores, officials, pool name. This data is in 4 documents. A boys and girls schedule (2). A master schedule format (3). Finally my test Access database.
